The 2009 Tour de Presteigne event results
Click HERE or see the Results page This is the fourth year of the Tour de Presteigne and Green Wheels show and each year its International reputation grows so that it is now seen as THE most important date in the Electric Bike calendar. This year all the most important manufacturers will be showing bikes at the Industrial Estate in Presteigne which is an ideal venue for people to try out all the latest makes and models. There will be electric bikes on show from eZee, Powabyke, Wisper, Kalkhoff, E-motion, Urban Mover, PowerSmart, Airnimal, Nano, Heinzmann and lots more. The organisers also expect to have examples of the brand new groundbreaking design from ex-Mclaren Formula 1 engineer Richard Thorpe who has just launched a brand new British lightweight portable two wheeled electric transport machine, the GoCycle. In addition visitors to the show will also be the first in the country to try out a new range of electric sports bikes from the renowned Spanish bike maker BH. These sporty pedelec machines branded Emotion are probably the most handsome electric bikes ever made and are being imported by the local Presteigne firm OnBike. However as previous visitors will know the show does not just consist of displays of machines there is plenty to do including a hill climb, a ride round the countryside and the exciting finale at 3pm on Sunday when there is a parade around the closed streets of Presteigne. This year sees the introduction of a number of new events including, on Saturday at midnight, a ghost ride with storytelling by local author Ian Marchant under a full moon on top of Stonewall Hill. Saturday night will see the town fill up for a walkabout entertainment special that includes, a meal at the Hat Shop plus music and comedy in the Dukes Arms and The Assembly Rooms and on Sunday they will be an out and out electric bike race at on Kinsham go kart track at midday. Quite how this tiny Border town became such a leading player in the search for alternative low carbon solutions to the planets transport problems is a bit of a mystery, even to the events founder Pete Mustill, but it certainly is the place to be on May the 9th and 10th if you have any interest at all in alternative transport.
